Welcome to Rotary district 1360 Iceland
- a briefing for visitors
Today there are 30 Rotary clubs in Iceland with about 1200 members.
Iceland has one Rotarian for every 266 inhabitants which is among the highest, if not the highest per capita in the world. Eighteen of the clubs in Iceland have evening meetings, eight have lunch meetings and two have breakfast meetings.
The Rotary movement, established in Chicago in 1905, came to Iceland in 1934 when RC Reykjavík, Rótarýklúbbur Reykjavíkur, was established. At first Iceland was part of a District in Denmark but since 1946 it is a separate District, number 1360.
